Wrexham manager Sam Ricketts says Leyton Orient clash will be a real test to see where they are – but it will not define their season.

The Dragons will welcome the league leaders to the Racecourse Ground on Saturday as both side’s look to show their worth in the National League title race.

“Leyton Orient are a good side, well organised, good players and they are up there deservedly, like ourselves,” Ricketts told the North Wales Daily Post.

“It is going to be a good test. They will be looking at this test exactly like we are, saying this is a strong test to see where they are at.

“They are looking to get promoted, and so are we, but (if we) win the game we are not promoted, lose the game and we are not going to not get promoted.

“It is a pivotal game along the journey but it is not a cup final.”

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender says there is a long way to go in the National League title race so there is no reason to pin it all on Saturday’s fixture.

“Now it is just our chance to pit our wits against another very good side and see where it goes.

“Like I said, win the game and it is not hysteria, it’s not “that’s it we are done”, it is just another three points, albeit against one of you rivals so it feels more important, but it is game 21 of a 46 game season.”

Wrexham will be boosted by the news that Rob Lainton’s loan stay at the Racecourse into a permanent deal.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper had been on a season-long loan at the National League club from Port Vale but has now signed until the end of the season.
