Dee Safer's men will visit Sporting Bengal United on Wednesday and then travel to Redbridge two days later

Woodford Town will look to get back on track this week with two Essex Senior League matches at local clubs.

After a bright start to the new campaign, Dee Safer’s men have lost their last three games in all competitions.

Last weekend they suffered a 4-1 defeat at Hoddesdon Town despite a goal from Samir Ali in the first half.

Next up for the Woods is Wednesday’s league clash at Sporting Bengal United, and then on Friday they visit Redbridge eager to return to winning ways in the division.

Assistant manager Neil Day said: “We thought we’d see a reaction at Hoddesdon, but strangely we weren’t really at the races.

“We’ve had plenty to complain about in recent weeks, but on Saturday the officials were excellent and there is no excuse for the performance we delivered.

“We have two massive away games this week and must get back on track sooner rather than later.”

Town travelled to Hoddesdon following back-to-back defeats to Clapton in the FA Vase and league.

A strong start was expected from the Woods, but they were slow out of the blocks and soon found themselves two goals down.

The visitors reduced the deficit before half time when Ali finished off a fine move, but it would prove scant consolation for Safer’s men.

After having plenty of the ball at the beginning of the second period, Woods were not able to do much with it and Hoddesdon added two more goals to claim a deserved 4-1 victory in front of 86 spectators.

Woodford will seek a response tomorrow at the Mile End Stadium, however, when they take on Imrul Gazi’s men.

Sporting Bengal are 16th in the table, but have only played three times in the league this season.
