Boss Uddin aware of fixture pile-up

Sporting Bengal boss Anwar Uddin is facing a fixture pile-up after his side progressed to the second round of the FA Vase on Tuesday.

Uddin’s side drew 1-1 with Burnham at Mile End Stadium on Saturday and came from two goals down to win the replay 4-2 in midweek to set up a home tie with Halstead.

“We’re going to have a busy schedule, but we have a full squad and are prepared to use it,” said Uddin.

“We are going to have a lot of Saturday, midweek games, so we will have to rotate.

“Halstead are a good team, they are doing well in their league and we know it’s going to be a tough game.

“We have a home tie in the second round of the FA Vase, what more can you ask for?”

A brace from Carlos Aoldirve as well as goals from Toib Adeyeni and Javier Rivera ensured the East London club came from behind to book their place in the next round.

Uddin added: “I’m over the moon! Despite the injury overshadowing a fantastic turn around, the attitude from the boys pleased me.”

Burnham’s Joe Baxter had to be stretchered off with a suspected broken ankle late on and Uddin and everyone at Sporting Bengal wishes him well. “The injury did take the gloss off the win. It was a total accident, but that’s football. The lads and I wish the boy well. The Burnham staff dealt with it extremely well and we hope he gets well soon,” he added.

Sporting are back in Essex Senior League action on Saturday as they host FC Romania and Uddin is expecting a difficult afternoon, adding: “Romania is going to be another tough game. They’ve started well this season and are unbeaten in the league.

“But, as always, we’re confident and believe we can get a positive result.”
