Tower Hamlets joint-manager AJ Ashinike believes they gave Takeley too much respect as they crashed out of the FA Cup with a 4-0 defeat.

The Mile End-based club found in-form Takeley too hot to handle and Ashinike admits they need to take positives and negatives from the match on Saturday.

“Overall I thought we was poor on the day,” he said.

“The players looked tired and didn’t look sharp at all and we gave them too much respect.

“We have got to take it both ways, we’ve got to see the negatives and also the positives from it.

“Positives were that we figured out what players we can use in certain games, the main negative being that we’re out of the FA Cup.”

Mitchell Das and George Wappett put the visitors 2-0 up inside a quarter of an hour, with Hamlets also conceding an own goal.

Stuart Zanone completed the tally for Takeley as they eased into the next round.

“The way I’m looking at it as I now know what we have to do to be a top side in the league,” Ashinike admitted.

“They came and taught us a lesson.

“Ade and I sat down and spoke about it Sunday and know what we have to do.”

Tower Hamlets will now face local rivals Clapton on Friday evening.
