Ade Abayomi’s young team make the trip to Theobalds Lane this evening

Tower Hamlets manager Ade Abayomi is looking forward to facing FC Romania this evening and doesn’t expect physicality to be the deciding factor in who wins the Essex Senior League encounter.

On Saturday, the young side from the Mile End Stadium showed they are a match for anyone by nearly beating Barking.

They drew 2-2 with the Blues after conceding a late equaliser and are confident travelling to Theobolds Lane tonight.

Abayomi said: “I hope the match goes ahead. The forecast was bad yesterday, but it looks good for today. I believe their pitch is quite good so hopefully it goes ahead, but obviously we can’t control the weather.

“Every game to me in this division is always going to be competitive because it is the first time we have played against these teams.

“I don’t care what league position they are in, whether they are bottom of the division or top, each fixture will be hard for us. We need to treat every game the same and expect it to be a test.”

Something that the Tower Hamlets manager would like to change is his young team switching off going into the final minutes of their most recent matches.

Against Barking they were leading before conceding deep into stoppage time and the same thing happened against Ilford on September 14.

“It was the same situation against Ilford previously as well. We were drawing that match going into the final minute and we conceded a penalty, that I didn’t think was a spot-kick,” added Abayomi.

“We lost that one and the following week we are 2-1 up against Barking and the same things happens again.

“I expect FC Romania to be similar to Barking. The fact that these guys know we are a young team means they will try to be physical with us.”

Despite that, the youngsters from Mile End will be ready for whatever is thrown at them this evening.

Abayomi said: “I have never played against FC Romania before, but I hear they try to play football as well. The physical side does always come into it.

“But I don’t think it is showing too much. I have young men who are 18 or 19 so they are going to the gym as well and they just need to learn to control themselves a little bit more.”
