We were inundated with entries to our West Ham book competition and our three winners have been drawn out of the hat.

The competition was for Tony Hogg’s definitive history of Upton Park – A Castle on Green Street – which covers the years 1904 up to 1966 in its first volume.

We thought the question was quite tricky, but in the end just about everybody got it right.

The question was: Who scored the first West Ham goal at Upton Park following their return to Division One in 1958 against champions Wolves?

We gave you the options of John Bond, John Dick and John Byrne and of course the answer was the great Scot John Dick.

Our winners were Glenn Michaels, Barry Wright and Terry Jonas.

Congratulations to them and thanks to everyone who took the time to enter the competition.

If you missed out you can still buy a copy of this fascinating book, packed with great stories and illustrations, many of which have not been seen in print before.

Simply contact Romford author Tony Hogg on 07949 122789.
