Some players just seem to enjoy playing at a certain ground and for West Ham United forward Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, that ground seems to be Stamford Bridge.

The Mexican international came off the bench away to Chelsea on Sunday to earn the Hammers a share of the spoils in the Premier League after Cesar Azpilicueta had earlier netted for the hosts.

By finding the net in west London, the 29-year-old continued one of the more of the quirkier scoring runs in the league.

Including his spells at other clubs, Hernandez has now been used four times as a substitute at Stamford Bridge — and has netted on each occasion.

But when asked why he seems to enjoy making an impact off the bench when making the trip to Chelsea, Hernandez was at a loss to explain it.

“I’m just sorry to Chelsea fans! Sometimes these things happen. It’s difficult to explain,” the forward told Sky Sports.

The latest goal from the bench at the Bridge for Hernandez could prove to be a vital one come the end of the season.

The Mexican’s effort earned West Ham a point, one which took them six clear of the bottom three.

With games fast running out, it is a nice advantage for the Hammers to enjoy at this stage in the season.

The former Bayer Leverkusen forward was happy to contribute in any way he could to helping the east Londoners to a positive result at Chelsea, but knows there are still some important games to come in their bid to avoid relegation.

“The most important thing is that we got the point, though. We have added another point to try and stay away from the threat of relegation,” he added,

“I think in these games, you have to be clever and focused to stop a side like Chelsea.

“We’re glad we could do that today to get this point. Now we have our ‘final’ against Stoke CIty next week.”

Hernandez will hope his cameo from the bench against Chelsea has earned him a place in the starting to face Stoke, when he will look for another goal for his tally.
