Bethnal Green youngster is karate champion

Bethnal Green’s Tayla O’Brien beat allcomers to become champion at the English Karate Championships in Leicester.

Competing in the 12/13-year-old girls’ under-45kg, the Uechi-ryu club member reeled off five successive wins in a tough tournament to claim gold to the delight of sensei Terry Daly and mum Lisa.

“Tayla fought great and we’re happy to say that she is now English champion!” said Lisa.
