World Pool Masters champion confident event at York Hall will be a hit
Raj Hundal has promised to give fans a real show at the Dafabet World Cup of Pool this week at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.
The 23-year-old cueman and his Team India partner Amar Kang begin their ultimate quest for World Cup glory with a tricky encounter against last year’s beaten finalists Niels Feijen and Nick van den Berg of the Netherlands.
England’s Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes triumphed over the Dutch pairing in the 19th and final frame decider last year in Portsmouth but Hundal, the current World Pool Masters champion, reckons it is India’s time to take the World Cup.
“I fancy our chances, myself and Amar have been practicing hard all week and our game is looking stronger than ever,” he said.

“We are looking to put on a stellar performance against the Dutch and begin our journey to becoming the World Cup champions.
“The Dutch play good and deserve respect naturally but we don’t fear them or any other team for that matter.

“I wish the races were longer as a race to seven can be over in 25 minutes so it’s important to draw first blood and keep the pressure on them.
“We are looking forward to coming out to a supportive arena of fans and listening to our Punjabi Drummers tear the roof off as we walk in. A beautiful way to start an assault if you ask me.
“Don’t be late, get yourself a good seat on Wednesday evening and don’t blink, it’s going to be explosive!”
The event runs through until Sunday (September 27). Tickets are available on the doors.
