Karting sensation Kieran Tison is on course to continue his rapid rise by stepping up to senior racing following a series of impressive displays in testing

Karting sensation Kieran Tison is on course to continue his rapid rise by stepping up to senior racing later this year following a series of impressive displays in testing.

Tison, who won five titles in little more than 12 months after a stunning introduction to the sport in 2007, has since given up four-stroke racing and hopes to compete for a senior championship in September.

The Wapping-based teenager has secured his own two-stroke kart and has shown striking speed in two testing sessions under coach David Catt at the Bayford Meadows circuit in Sittingbourne, Kent.

Now Tison, who is discussing a potential sponsorship deal with electrical contractors R Dunham, is scheduled to take part in a final testing session at the circuit on July 29 before the 17-year-old begins competing as a novice in the senior championships later this year.

"His coach is already 100 per cent sure he'll beat all the other novices - he says he's never seen a novice like Kieran and he wanted to get him racing after the first day of testing," said his uncle Joe Tison.

"He's already up to speed and could challenge some of the senior drivers, but the goal is just to beat the novices and graduate to senior racing as quickly as possible.
