Tower Hamlets boss reflects on 2-0 loss to London Bari and how his players can take plenty from the match

Tower Hamlets manager Ade Abayomi was disappointed to see his young team lose 2-0 at London Bari on Saturday in the Essex Senior League, but conceded it was another learning curve for his side.

Junior Decker scored in the first for the hosts at the Old Spotted Dog and Tony Cookey ensured they would earn the points by finding the net after the break.

Abayomi’s men came into the game full of confidence after winning their previous two matches against Enfield and Clapton.

But Hamlets came unstuck against Bari and the defeat sees them drop to 15th in the table.

“London Bari scored early and it was difficult to recover,” admitted Abayomi.

“The first goal was a soft one to concede, but it is another thing we can learn from.

“Our chances were limited, but we were still in the game at 1-0 and then our centre back makes a bad mistake and passes the ball to their forward and at 2-0 it is a huge mountain to climb from there.”

The Mile End Stadium manager stopped short of criticising his players too much, however, because conditions weren’t great.

Wind was strong at the Old Spotted Dog and the pitch is notoriously poor at Bari’s home.

Both contributed towards the loss for Abayomi’s men, but he refused to use that as an excuse.

He added: “I wouldn’t criticism the players too much for the performance against London Bari, actually I wouldn’t criticism them at all.

“They just need to learn from it because the wind was something they wouldn’t have been used to before.

“It wasn’t good for our passing game and that was hard for them to get to grips too, but they will take plenty from the experience.”

Hamlets are without a game now until Monday (December 14) when they welcome Greenhouse Sports to the Mile End Stadium.
