Mile End Stadium boss unhappy after side beaten on the road in Hertfordshire

Tower Hamlets manager Ade Abayomi cut a frustrated figure during Saturday’s Essex Senior League match at Sawbridgeworth Town.

His talented youngsters from Mile End made the trip to Crofters Road having lost their last two games against Bowers & Pitsea and Eton Manor.

But they made a brilliant start at the Robins home and went ahead after 10 minutes thanks to a goal from Mane Cheikh-Sadibou.

Andre Humphrey equalised for the hosts before the break, however, but for long parts of the second half neither team could get the second.

Until Terry Samuels put Sawbridgworth in front in the 80th minute and Tom Jelliman added a third deep into stoppage time.

“Saturday is one game I will try to forget about. It was a match we should have taken something from,” said Abayomi.

“We scored the opening goal and then the first one we conceded was comical. The third was a back pass that the goalkeeper didn’t pick up either so it wasn’t great.

“Look we will take positives from the performance, we did play very well so that is something I was happy with because Sawbridgeworth are a very strong team.

“If it wasn’t for the mistakes we made for the goals, we would have taken something from the game.”

The Hamlets boss went on to discuss how their targets for the 2016/17 campaign will be determined over the next few weeks.

After a bright start to the current season, the Mile End Stadium club have struggled to pick up many wins of late.

But they will look to finish strongly with 10 more games to play in the Essex Senior League this year.

Abayomi added: “We are going to try and go through the rest of the season now and see how we get on against all the other teams.

“How we get on will help us decide what our plan is for the next campaign. This year has always been about the experience.

“What I am hoping is we have gained a lot from it, I feel we have, and then we can take that into next season.”
