Event was organised to engage community understanding, unity and help foster cohesion

Local youngsters played football and participated in the annual Burdett FC community festival 2016 held within the Burdett neighbourhood complex.

The event was organised and delivered by members of Burdett Football Club, to engage community understanding, unity and help foster cohesion.

The whole event was co-ordinated by Tahmid Rahman, a year 10 pupil from St Paul’s Way Trust. Other volunteers included Amran Ali and Mohammed Kamali.

Abdul Mukith, from Burdett FC, said: “We plan and deliver small community activities in partnership with young people.

“Our ethos is based on inspiring young people and promoting future leaders. To achieve this we focus on common interests - one of which is football.”

Stepney FC striker Tahlil Alam, who has recently been chosen for further trials at Millwall FC said: “I played for Stepney FC and I liked meeting new people. Thank you to my uncle for bringing me.”
