Tower Hamlets beaten again and without success since January
Sporting Bengal have appeared to turn the corner in the Essex Senior League, despite losing out to Haringey Borough in midweek.
The title hopefuls beat Mamun Chowdhury’s team 2-1 at Coles Park, but Bengal can take a lot of pride from that performance and their last three matches.
Sporting have picked up four points from a possible nine, but two of those matches were against teams in the top four of the league.
They played out an eight-goal thriller with Waltham Forest last Wednesday to pick up a point in a 4-4 draw and then followed that up with their first victory since November on Saturday.
Bengal showed great character against Forest to continuously come from behind before earning a draw.
The visitors went behind early on, but Nazmul Ahmed equalised with 30 minutes played at Mile End Stadium.
Forest did add to their tally before the break to go in ahead and went 3-1 up just past the hour mark.
But Mohamed Abdisamad started the comeback by rifling into the far corner and he was on hand in the 78th minute to make it 3-3 as he poked in from close range.
Once again the visitors went back in front, but Bengal were not to be denied and Abdisamad headed home in the fourth minute of stoppage time to complete his hat-trick and earn Chowdhury’s team a valuable point.
That point greatly boosted Bengal and they followed it up with a 2-0 success against Enfield at the weekend.
Javier Riveria gave the home side the perfect start by putting them ahead after six minutes.
Juan Toro doubled the lead a minute before the break and that was how it stayed to give Bengal a much-needed victory.
Despite defeat to Haringey they are set to welcome London Bari to Mile End Stadium on Saturday and will be hopeful of earning another win.
Bengal visit Ilford on Wednesday confident of getting a first point on the road since October.
Tower Hamlets were frustrated by the weather this week as their game at Bari last weekend was called off due to a waterlogged Old Spotted Dog pitch.
They hosted Takeley last night (Wednesday) but fell to a 2-1 defeat and they will hope the rain holds off on Saturday as they are set to play at the Dog again as they face Clapton.
Without a win since January, Tower Hamlets will seek success over the next seven days.
