Jamal Burgess hits four for under-14s in latest Hackney Marshes Youth League Blue rout over Chapel Youth

Arshad Coowar kept up his good form for FC Leytonstone, but it wasn’t enough to earn them a win in the East London Barking & Dagenham Sunday League.

The Lemons faced Stoke Newington at Hackney Marshes, but lost out by the odd goal in three.

Coowar, who struck a brace two weeks ago, opened the scoring for Leytonstone’s to put them in control at half time.

Newington forced an equaliser early after the break and it remained level for long periods of the second half.

Lemons cause wasn’t helped when Shameem Subratty had to leave the field due to concussion and they had already made all three substitutes.

It meant Leytonstone had to finish the match with 10 men and eventually Newington took advantage to score a late winner.

There were no such problems for the Lemons under-14s in the Hackney Marshes Youth League Blue.

Jamal Burgess scored four times to defeat Chapel Youth 7-1 and keep Leytonstone’s at the top of the league.

Munaf Abrham’s team dominated from kick-off, yet only had goals from Burgess and Abbas Mohmed to show for their effort.

A blistering start after the break resulted in Mohamed adding another and Essa Acha finding the net.

Burgess went on to grab three more goals in the second half to take his tally to four while Chapel Youth pull one back, but it was a scant consolation.

Abrham said: “I was delighted with the performance and the togetherness of the team. I can’t praise the quality, effort and team spirit they showed enough.”
