Ade Abayomi is desperate for his Tower Hamlets team to end their eight-match losing streak in the Essex Senior League at Enfield.

The Mile End Stadium club travel to Barrows Farm this weekend to take on the north Londoners, who play at Harlow Town’s ground.

Hamlets are in the middle of a tricky spell and have only won twice in 2017, but Abayomi is hoping they can stop their poor form on Saturday.

“I’d love to see our bad run end and we have two matches left to try and do that, so I am hoping we can,” said Abayomi.

“We have always tried to get young players involved and the issue for us is making sure they know the game first.

“Then with the older players, we seem to find they are busy with work or they leave to join clubs who will pay them, so we’ve found things tough.”

It’s a difficult time for the east Londoners, who can only finish as high as 20th this season after a frustrating campaign.

Hamlets have produced plenty of good, entertaining football, but struggled to take their chances and keep clean sheets.

One of their rare bright notes this campaign occurred back in October when they earned a 3-1 win over 19th-placed Enfield and they will draw on that memory this weekend.

Abayomi added: “Our last result against them is a positive for us and I think they will be disappointed with their season.

“I imagine they wanted to be higher up the table, so Saturday is a chance for both teams to try and finish on a high.

“We have one more game after Enfield and I am looking forward to that and then we can enjoy our time off and have a much-needed break.”

Hamlets have had a week to forget at Mile End, as London Bari beat them 6-1 on Saturday, with Jairo Pedro netting a late consolation, before Eton Manor claimed a 1-0 win on Monday night.

One of the main problems for the division strugglers has been getting players available on a consistent basis.

With only two games left, Abayomi hopes he will have a good squad to pick from for the rest of the season and for next year.

He added: “One of the biggest problems for us has been consistency in terms of players. We struggle to have people available all the time and that is something I need to put right for next year.”
