Ade Abayomi’s young team score in stoppage time to snatch 4-4 draw and extend unbeaten league run to six matches

Tower Hamlets produced an excellent comeback to pick up a respectable point at Basildon United in the Essex Senior League last night.

Ade Abayomi’s men made the lengthy midweek trip to the Stuart Bingham Stadium to face a side second in the table.

The east Londoners made an excellent start, though, with Germaine Agymeng putting them ahead after four minutes from the penalty spot.

Basildon hit back with a stunning nine minute spell where they scored three times through John-Jo Slater, an own goal and Churchill Chia-Titor.

Agymeng netted again with half an hour played, however, to make it only 3-2 to the hosts at half time.

The referee awarded another spot-kick early in the second period and it went to Basildon, which Nathan Dewberry dispatched with ease.

Abayomi’s talented youngsters were not to be denied, though, and O’Neal Rowe reduced the arrears with 19 minutes remaining.

Rowe popped up again in the second minute of stoppage time to complete his brace and earn Hamlets a valuable point.

The east Londoners played their part in an eight-goal thriller witnessed by 69 people at the Stuart Bingham Stadium.

Hamlets are up to 18th in the table now and haven’t lost in the division since October 1 – an undefeated run of six matches.
