Mile End Stadium outfit come into contest in great form after recent victories at Southend Manor and Hackney Wick

Sporting Bengal United manager Imrul Gazi is excited to welcome Sawbridgeworth Town to the Mile End Stadium in the Essex Senior League tonight.

The east Londoners host the Hertfordshire club looking to secure a third consecutive victory in the division.

Bengal defeated Southend Manor 2-0 on Saturday and are full of belief, but know it will be tough this evening.

“Sawbridgeworth have had a mixed start to the season, which has surprised me because I expected them to be challenging,” said Gazi.

“Lewis Francis was with us before and he is over there now, so they have some very good players and I love their management team as well,

“They are a brilliant club with really great people involved. I have a lot of time for their chairman, so I am looking forward to it, but we want to try and get a good result.

“Our first aim is to not concede again, so I would be happy with that and hopefully we get another clean sheet.”

Goals from Codey Cameron and Oscar Mendes helped Bengal beat Southend Manor at Southchurch Park on Saturday much to the delight of Gazi.

He won’t be able to pick the same starting XI tonight, but is confident whoever comes in will perform well.

Gazi added: “It is a weird league this season and similar to the Premier League in some ways because everyone can beat each other.

“It is hard to predict results and I think it is all down to what personnel you have available on the day.

“Tonight I won’t be able to pick the same starting XI from Saturday, but the big thing this season is we have more depth.

“Even if I am missing a few and need to change it around, the people coming in are more than capable.”

After winning at Southend, it is now six points from a possible six for Bengal since losing 3-2 at home to Hullbridge Sports on August 12.

Saturday was a second consecutive victory at the seaside for the Mile End Stadium club too after they also tasted success at Manor last season.

Bengal won 2-1 at Southchurch Park with the talented Mendes on target again and Shiblu Miah also scoring on March 11

“We got a similar result at Southend Manor last season and it is not the nicest of places to go because they do like to kick you a bit, but that only makes the result even sweeter,” said Gazi.

“I think they tried to ruffle up our lads and they like to do it against most teams, but we stood up to it and it was quite comfortable actually.”
