Arosh Ali will take charge of team to face Stansted this weekend before Gazi should return for Monday’s derby with Tower Hamlets

Sporting Bengal United manager Imrul Gazi faces a difficult juggling act over the next week with several games to contend with.

The Mile End Stadium outfit host Stansted on Saturday, before facing local rivals Tower Hamlets on Monday night, both in the Essex Senior League.

Bengal travelled to Waltham Forest last night (Wednesday) and lost 1-0, but Gazi will not be present for their weekend fixture.

Instead, he will be in Glasgow as the Essex Senior League club take part in the UK Asian Championships.

“It is a bit of a juggling act right now because we have the UK Asian Championships on Friday being held in Glasgow,” said Gazi.

“The best eight Asian teams from the UK take part, usually step five and below, and the likes of Hounslow and Halifax, plus Smethwick, always get involved.

“This year the final is at Celtic and you have eight teams put into two groups and the top side from each goes through to the final on Sunday.

“We’ve got one match on Friday and two on Saturday, before hopefully playing another on Sunday!”

Gazi knows the league is vitally important, but with this competition coming around only once a year, it takes precedence and he hopes it can help boost Bengal’s status too.

Arosh Ali, a first-team coach at the Mile End Stadium club, will take charge of the team for the fixture with the Airportmen.

“We have Stansted on Saturday and Monday we’ve got Tower Hamlets so it is going to be a test of the squad and my logistic skills as a manager, but it’s is all part and parcel of management and it is great to be involved,” said Gazi.

“I’ll be in Glasgow this weekend so Arosh Ali, who coaches at MK Dons, will be managing the team against Stansted.

“I have full confidence in him and so do the players, and hopefully we can pick up a positive result.

“We know the Essex Senior League is the bread and butter, but the UK Asian Championships only comes around once a year and it is very important.”
