Sporting Bengal United put a spanner in Redbridge promotion hopes as they shocked the high-flyers with a 2-1 victory.

A late 74th minute goal from Bengal captain Freddy Tandon sealed them three points away at Oakside.

The win takes Imrul Gazi’s men to their highest ever points tally and moves them up to tenth in the table while Redbridge slip to fourth.

The visitors took an early lead as Lewis Green tried to clear the ball but his efforts hit Bobby Redwood and went straight into the back of his goal in the 17th minute.

The Motormen levelled the score in the 41st minute when Eljay Worrell picked out striker Brian Moses with a free-kick.

Moses nodded it into the far corner to make it 1-1 going into the break.

Tandon then found the back of the net to seal the win for his men.

Manager Imrul Gazi tweeted after the match: “4 WINS on the bounce - SO PROUD!!

“49 Points, the lads break the club record for the highest points tally in a season.

“Played so well and deserved the 2-1 win against a high flying Redbridge.

“My Captain Marvel Freddy Tandon getting the winner to secure the win made it that sweeter.”
