Mile End Stadium club have struggled for goals in recent weeks and are set to face dangerous Motormen outfit

Redbridge joint-boss Ricky Eaton hopes the squad can build on an emphatic win over West Essex last time out when they host Sporting Bengal United in the Essex Senior League tonight (Tuesday).

The Motormen eased to a 5-1 success at home to West Essex last Friday, with Jacob Dingli netting a hat-trick.

And Eaton is confident of more success at Oakside Stadium tonight against a Bengal side who, like West Essex, find themselves at the wrong end of the table.

He said: “It’s another chance for us to collect three points and get another win on the board, but we have to work hard.

“Sporting Bengal only lost 1-0 to Barking (the league leaders) because of a stoppage-time goal, so they have shown they can compete with the best in the league.”

Despite currently propping up the standings, Eaton believes struggling Bengal will provide Redbridge with a tough test.

However, the Motormen boss is confident that if his side play like they did in the second half against West Essex, there is more than enough about them to triumph.

“The boys are aware of the task that lies ahead and fully understand that Sporting Bengal are a capable side,” Eaton added.

“We have to put pressure on them early on, which is something we didn’t do as much as we’d like in the first half against West Essex.

“In that game, we got the boys in at half time and told them we needed an improvement, which we got so it was pleasing and hopefully we can carry that on.”

Bengal have just nine points from 19 games in the league this season and have struggled for goals over the last two months.

Imrul Gazi’s men lost 2-1 at home to Haringey & Waltham on Saturday with Bobby Redwood on target at the Mile End Stadium.

It was Bengal’s first goal since the 2-1 league reserve to Clapton on November 22 at the Old Spotted Dog.

Since the start of November, the east Londoners have scored just six goals in their last eight games, though will hope to improve on that tonight.
