Two local rivals have scored plenty of goals this season and more entertainment can be expected at Mile End Stadium on Saturday
Sporting Bengal United boss Imrul Gazi expects a high-scoring contest when Redbridge visit Mile End Stadium in the Essex Senior League this weekend.
The previous meeting between the two clubs on December 13 produced five goals with Bengal claiming all three points after a 3-2 victory.
Both teams have only been involved in two goalless draws each in all competitions this season, but Gazi would love to see his team keep a clean sheet on Saturday.
“You would like to think it would be an entertaining game because we are both dangerous going forward,” said Gazi.
“I think we are quite similar in that respect, so on paper it should be a high-scoring match, but football is a funny, old game.
“To be honest my priority at the moment is to get a clean sheet because we keep making silly errors.
“We are scoring a lot of goals right now, but we are making mistakes at the back and it has been costing us.
“If somebody offered me a clean sheet on Saturday, I’d take it now as I always feel confident we can score.”
Bengal are full of confidence ahead of entertaining the Motormen, although it was a different story the last time they faced off at Oakside.
Gazi’s team had gone over two months without a win and were at the bottom of the table before taking on Redbridge, but produced a shock to win 3-2.
The Bengal boss is fully aware that Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton’s side will be keen for revenge at Mile End Stadium this weekend.
“Redbridge will be on a high after beating Wadham Lodge 4-0 and the previous match in December was the turning point for us,” added Gazi.
“We were in a bit of a rut and we were losing 2-0, before coming back to win 3-2 away from home.
“After that we went on a run of getting 10 points from 12 games, so hopefully we can get another victory this time.
“But they would have been gutted after the last match and will want to do a job on us, so we need to be prepared for that.”
Sporting Bengal are 19th after drawing 2-2 at home to FC Romania on Saturday, before seeing Monday’s clash at Barkingside postponed.
