Essex Senior League: Eton Manor 7 Sporting Bengal United 0

Sporting Bengal United had a night to forget at V&E Sports Ground with Eton Manor thrashing them 7-0 in the Essex Senior League.

A red card to David Tarawali didn’t help the visitors cause, although they were already 3-0 down at that point.

Joe Bricknell opened the scoring after nine minutes from close range and then doubled his tally in the 17th minute when he followed up after his original effort was saved.

Ryan Marriott made it 3-0 two minutes later when he curled into the corner from just outside the area.

With Bengal already in serious trouble, Tarawali received his marching orders after preventing Josh Sykes from getting in on goal.

Manor soon added another when Sykes rounded the away custodian and tapped into the empty net after 27 minutes.

Eight minutes before half time it was 5-0 when Sykes was brought down inside the area and Bricknell convert the spot-kick for his hat-trick.

Imrul Gazi, who celebrates his 42nd birthday today, knew his team needed to respond after the break and they looked to.

Sykes made it 6-0 just nine minutes after the break, but Bengal put in a spirited display afterwards.

The Mile End Stadium outfit didn’t concede again until just over 10 minutes from time when Sykes completed his treble.

It capped a terrible night for Bengal who remain rooted to the bottom with two wins and two draws this season, though they have six games in hand over Haringey & Waltham who are directly above them and only on nine points.
