FC Broxbourne Borough 1 Tower Hamlets 1

Tower Hamlets will look to make home advantage count in an FA Cup replay at Mile End Stadium after honours finished even on Saturday.

Having picked up their first point of the new Essex Senior League in midweek, in a 1-1 draw at Hackney Wick after a last-gasp loss to Redbridge on opening day, Tower Hamlets saw Antonio Monteiro score after 21 minutes of their extra preliminary round tie.

But the home side, who play in the Spartan South Midlands League, also found the net in the first half to set up a second meeting between the two sides in east London on Monday.

As well as the £1,500 in prize money being on offer, the winners will earn a home tie against Takeley, who beat Wivenhoe 3-1 on Saturday.

Tower Hamlets: McKnight, Gordon, Watson, Anthony, Ndure, Wilson, Odedoyin, Akinola, Miller (Ibrahim 46), Monteiro (Childs 82), Pond (Earle 64).

Hackney Wick 0 Long Melford 1

Hackney Wick bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle after a hard-fought extra preliminary round tie at the Old Spotted Dog ground.

Josh Hodgson’s first-half goal in front of a crowd of 267 proved enough for visitors Long Melford to bank the £1,500 in prize money, as keeper Darren Moyes denied the Essex Senior League hosts a reply.

And victory set up a home tie on August 19 with FC Romania or Waltham Forest, who drew 2-2 on Saturday.

Wick will now return to their league campaign with a trip to Sawbridgeworth Town next weekend.

Hackney Wick: Arhanchkov, Adesina, Adetunji, Adomah, Camara, Decker, Idemudia, Mpalampa, Mwamba, Onwugbonu, Orelaja. Subs: Djop, Oni, Richardson.
