Brentford defeat first team while Hampstead Development knock reserves out of the cup

Tower Hamlets women conceded a goal in each half to suffer a defeat against Brentford last weekend.

Cows made a strong start against the west Londoners and kept hold of possession well during the early exchanges.

But Brentford took the lead following a free kick and left Hamlets facing an uphill battle for the rest of the match.

Captain Natalie Keating struck the woodwork and Libby Elliott and George Easterbrook missed chances to ensure it remained 1-0 at half time.

Hamlets were left frustrated with the referee after the break, who continued to take a long time whenever a substitution was made.

Hannah Griffiths and Elliott threated for Cows as they desperately searched for a way back into the game.

And Brentford then hit the unfortunate Hamlets with a suck punch by doubled their advantage late on.

Cows had put in plenty of effort and endeavour, yet lacked the clinical touch when in front of goal.

It was also a frustrating weekend for Hamlets reserve team who took on Hampstead Development in a cup fixture.

A headed goal from Cecily Maher put Cows in front, but they conceded twice in the final 20 minutes to exit the competition.

Hamlets reserves travel to Middlesex this weekend while the first team are without a fixture.
