Meath United have delivered an ominous message after hitting double figures in a humiliating rout of bottom club Hench FC

Meath United delivered an ominous message to their title rivals on Sunday as the reigning Premier Division champions hit double figures in a humiliating rout of bottom club Hench FC.

Meath are currently seven points behind top-flight leaders Inter Lucia, but the Bethnal Green side have three games in hand - and appear intent on making up ground in double-quick time after a 10-goal demolition of hapless Hench.

Paul Linger bagged a hat-trick for rampant Meath, while Danny Bradshaw and Johnny Quinn both bagged doubles, and further strikes came from Tommy Roast, Dean Goggin and a Hench own-goal.

Leaders Inter maintained their place at the summit with a 4-0 win over Beaumont International, while Clapton Rangers revived their faltering title ambitions with a 6-1 triumph over Athletico Hackney.

The shock result of the day - and one of the biggest upsets of the season - came in Division One, where championship contenders Arbour Athletic slumped to a 2-1 defeat against relegation candidates Young Prince.

Arbour had taken an early lead through leading scorer John Gilroy, but appeared to underestimate their youthful opponents, who hit back early in the second half and went on to snatch a surprise late winner.

Leaders East Moore also struggled as Queensbridge Rangers refused to roll over - and would have taken a share of the spoils but for a key penalty save from Moore keeper John Osbourne.

Goals from Shaun Foster and man of the match Jesse Mason ultimately proved decisive as Moore edged a 2-1 win.

Stoke Newington maintained their promotion challenge in Division Two despite a late scare against Byron Athletic. The Hackney side had raced into a 6-1 lead but Byron came storming back, netting three times and threatening to grab an unlikely point before finally succumbing to a 6-4 defeat.
