Sporting Bengal boss Gazi hopes to be at full strength for Manor clash

Bengal welcome Adam Peek’s side to the Mile End Stadium tomorrow evening (Wednesday, 7.45pm) as they look to extend their 11 game unbeaten run and continue chasing down the top three in the Essex Senior League.

He is also hoping to build on their recent cup victories as they return to league action.

“I hope to have a few players back to face Southend Manor, so we should be as strong as we can,” Gazi said.

“The league is our bread and butter and Southend is always a very tough game, so we need to be focused on the job at hand.

“They are a team on the up and although they have not had the greatest of starts to the season, they will be confident after a good win on Saturday (over Takeley Reserves), as will we.

“We are back to Essex Senior League action after a couple of cup games, which saw us continue our unbeaten run into November.

“Last Wednesday we beat St Margaretsbury 1-0 in the Errington Challenge Cup which means we now progress into the quarter-final and await one of Sawbridgeworth Town, Tower Hamlets or West Essex.

“On Saturday we moved onto the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy, which saw us defeat Saffron Walden Town 4-1 in horrible conditions.”

The boss also revealed they will just continue to play their game and he has also revealed the league table means nothing.

“If we continue to play with the confidence and tempo we have, we will be a tough opponent for any team.

“I don’t take any notice of the league table anymore either as I’m fully aware this league is one where anyone can beat anyone regardless of form.

“Every game has to be approached with the utmost of respect and with the correct attitude if we are to get a positive result.

“Let’s hope the weather holds up and is not as bad as last Saturday against Saffron Walden and we can give our fans another game to shout about.”
