Sporting Bengal United manager Imrul Gazi believes his side’s luck is bound to change ahead of their clash with Southend Manor this weekend.

Bengal will welcome mid-table Manor to Mile End Stadium on Saturday (3pm) as they to try get themselves out of an Essex Senior League relegation battle.

Gazi feels his side must start taking their chances and cut out the individual errors to turn their luck around and get a result.

“If we can get a little bit of luck I’m sure we can then go on a run as whenever we get a win we normally find our form and win a few in a row,” he said.

“My job right now is to try taking the pressure and burden off my players so they can play their game.”

The Bengal boss admits it will be a tough test, but he’s hoping their fortunes change against Adam Peek’s men after beating them 2-0 in the earlier meeting between the sides this season.

“It’s always a tough game against Southend, but we always seem to do well against them and they’re one of the teams we always seem to get results against,” he added.

“They will be coming here on the back of a few bad results and keen to amend it.”

Gazi now wants his men to step up as they are in a bit of a dog fight but he believes they can pull Southend into the scrap with a win on Saturday.

“If we beat them on Saturday we can pull them right into the mix,” he said.

“We can’t afford to lose the game and must get something from it as we’ve been starting games well and we just now need to cut out the individual errors that are costing us.

“We’ve really got to man up and this is the time when you see which players can step up for the team.”

Gazi also revealed they will not be concerned about the Manor squad but will certainly not be taking them for granted.

“It’s hard to say as you can expect one team and they show up with a totally different one, so we need to concentrate on us, as it’s all about who performs on the day for me in the Essex Senior League,” he added.

“I’m always confident if I have my best 11 out there we can beat anyone and we have shown that at times this season.

“We just need to make sure we don’t lack concentration towards the end of the game like we have in recent weeks.”
