Imrul Gazi has watched his team earn three-goal wins over Sawbridgeworth Town and West Essex this week

Sporting Bengal United will look to enjoy plenty of home comforts over the next week with a number of Essex Senior League fixtures taking place at Mile End Stadium.

Imrul Gazi’s team will play host to Hoddesdon Town this Saturday – on Non-League Day – and then entertain local rivals Redbridge next Wednesday (October 17).

While on paper they seem tricky matches, Bengal will go into both confident of clinching more wins after enjoying a good week.

Last Saturday, Gazi saw his men produce a sparkling display to see off Sawbridgeworth Town by a 5-2 scoreline at Mile End Stadium.

Charles Gregory put the hosts in front after 10 minutes with a placed shot from outside the area, before Kamarl Duncan headed home Steve Carvell’s corner five minutes later.

Jay Knight then took centre stage and grabbed a hat-trick before the hour mark to continue his superb form since signing for the club.

Sawbridgeworth fought back late on with two consolation goals, but it failed to dampen Bengal’s spirits.

Gazi said: “A brilliant first-half performance from my Sporting Bengal lads. I’m really pleased with the result and there are positives to take away, but we’re still a work in progress.”

Bengal backed up this result on Tuesday night with another victory and this one on the road away to West Essex.

After going behind early on, the visitors responded towards the end of the first half with Declan Nche equalising and David Vaughan making it 2-1 at the break.

The east Londoners kicked on after the restart with Duncan netting again and the points were wrapped up when Gregory made it 4-1 on the stroke of full time.

It makes it three victories in a row for Bengal and an impressive 13 goals have been scored by them in the same period.

Boss Gazi added: “I’m not going to lie it was a pleasure to watch my Sporting Bengal lads play ball.

“It was another good win away from home after having to make a lot of last minute changes to the line-up. I love it when players take their opportunity.”

The Bengal manager will now be facing a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s match at home to new boys Hoddesdon.

As it is Non-League Day, Sporting have adjusted their ticket prices and it means admission will be £4 this weekend rather than £6 as the Mile End club target a big crowd.
