Essex Senior League: Stansted 2 Tower Hamlets 3

Tower Hamlets shocked the Essex Senior League by knocking high-flying Stansted off the top spot with a 3-2 victory.

Hamlets took a surprise lead through Dominic Weston in the 17th minute before doubling their lead through Luke With four minutes later at Hargrave Park.

The hosts managed to pull one back to reduce the arrears thanks to a Jack West header in first half stoppage time.

Jack West then brought the hosts level midway through the second-half but Hamlets were not to be denied all three points when Amon Walton-Owen netted a 76th minute winner, which meant the hosts fell to second and one point behind leaders Hullbridge.

Tower Hamlets manager AJ Ashanike tweeted: “Statement to the league.

“Our young boys are stepping up. “Thank you FC Stansted and all the best for the season.”

Luke With also tweeted: “What a great game! Great result and even better discipline we performance from our young boys!

“Best of luck to FC Stansted for the rest of the season.

“Hope this set of lads stay together in a couple of years they will ruin this league.”
