Stepney biggest force in the league once again

Stepney FC have captured the Inner London Football League Premier Division title for a record fifth time.

The East Enders won the title with a game to spare after beating E7 3-2.

Stepney took an early lead through their most prolific striker Jahed Khan and added a second through Club Captain Forhan Uddin.

E7 pulled a goal back but Stepney added a third through Jahed, before E7 added a goal just before the break.

At half-time it was 3-2 and despite numerous chances in the second half both teams could not add any further goals and the celebration begun as the Stepney Green park outfit clinched the title.

Club Manager Zaaher Saleh said: “We are extremely proud to have won our fifth league title. This has been another competitive season with a number of quality teams in the Premier Division. This is a credit to the league organisers, whom we must thank for their continued hard work and desire to promote football in East London.

“This season has been a real team effort with a number of players performing fantastically throughout the season. I would like to congratulate everyone associated with the club for this fantastic achievement.”

Stepney’s final league game of the season ended with a 2-1 defeat to Island, with many of the club’s youngsters given the opportunity to impress boss Saleh.
