Tower Hamlets manager AJ Ashanike has mixed emotions after Stansted victory and Enfield defeat this weekend.

Tower Hamlets shocked the Essex Senior League by knocking high-flying Stansted off the top spot with a 3-2 victory on Saturday at Hargrave Park.

But then fell to a narrow 2-0 loss against fellow strugglers Enfield two days later at Mile End Stadium.

“Saturday was really good, obviously we went over there with a few youth team players, and they done so well,” Ashanike said.

“We done so well to get all three points from Stansted as it was a really big game for them young lads.”

Hamlets took a surprise lead through Dominic Weston in the 17th minute before doubling their lead through Luke With four minutes later at Hargrave Park.

The hosts managed to pull one back to reduce the arrears thanks to a Jack West header in first half stoppage time.

Jack West then brought the hosts level midway through the second-half but Hamlets were not to be denied all three points when Amon Walton-Owen netted a 76th minute winner.

“I don’t think it was ever going to be a problem that we were going to score goals, but with everyone chipping in with goals is pleasing, Amon scoring from the back for us as well which is a huge bonus.”

The boss also praised youngsters Ajibola Ashnike, Montel Williams and Flavio Jumo for their performances.

“Alisha, he stepped up and done really well, Montel Williams and Flav in centre-midfield they done really well them three.”

Ashanike felt Monday was a kick in the teeth as he expected to pick up three points after his side’s performance at Stansted.

“That was a bit of a kick in the teeth, obviously Saturday we went to Stansted and put a display on, and moving onto Monday I was expecting a win.

“But I think it really took a lot out of the boys, they couldn’t get going, everything was flat from the first whistle.

“These are the kind of things you have to expect from young kids and I’ve got to respect that and decide how to manage them.”
