Tower Hamlets fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Stanway Rovers to keep them second from bottom in the Essex Senior League.

Goals from Toby Blanche and Teddy Nesbitt sealed the three points for the Rovers to keep them one place above Hamlets in the table.

Assistant manager Francesco Zabotti tweeted after the match: “If you don’t take your chances you pay the price.

“Nothing between the two sides a part from that.

“Unfortunately we walk away with no points this time, and a lot to ponder on.

“But we’ll regroup and go again, we win together we learn together.

“Tower Hamlets stay focused.”

Tower Hamlets now face a short trip to Ilford as they look to start climbing the table on Wednesday evening.

They also welcome West Essex to the Mile End Stadium on the weekend and AJ Ashanike will be hoping his side can start stringing some points together.
