Tower Hamlets joint-manager AJ Ashanike believes they have the perfect chance to bounce back after two defeats against Hackney Wick this weekend.

Hamlets host their east London rivals under the Friday night lights at Mile End Stadium (7.45pm) as they look to get back on track against the Essex Senior League strugglers.

Ashanike’s men currently sit seventh in the table, six points behind Clapton in sixth with a game in hand, and will be hoping to make up some ground after falling to a heavy 5-0 defeat to leaders Redbridge on Monday.

“Hackney are going to be a very quick team, but they will not be as organised or look after the ball as well as Redbridge, so it’s a good chance of getting three points,” said Ashanike.

“As long as we stay disciplined, I don’t see why we shouldn’t win.”

The manager believes a derby on a Friday night should bring a crowd and spur on his players to a big performance, adding: “For some reason we get a bigger crowd on a Friday night and the players seem to get more excited to play in them games.”

The former Ilford player also admitted his team should fear nobody among the teams below them, including Hackney Wick.

“They will have a few danger men, but to be honest I don’t really worry about the other teams. If we stick to our game plan then we should beat anyone below the top 10,” he said.

“If we play someone in the top 10, it’s slightly different and you need to be aware of what they have, but I expect wins against the bottom teams.”

The Mile End-based club should be boosted by the return of a few players from injury and suspension, including striker Luke With.

“Luke With is back and will be going straight back into the line-up for us, which makes us stronger,” added Ashanike.

“Hopefully we will have a few more than that back fit and ready to play as well, but everyone in the team has got to do a role.

“Lamar Earle was injured on Monday and hopefully we can get him back.”

Joint-boss Ashanike believes when he has his best 11 players available they are a force, but right now they’re struggling while missing players.

“We’re very good when we have our best 11 starting,” he said.

“My team is not strong enough at the moment with the injuries and suspensions we have.”
