East Londoners earn second win of the season with Johan Caney-Brown finding the net

The University of East London men’s first team cruised to a 3-0 success over their Essex rivals with Johan Caney-Brown on target.

University of Essex didn’t help their cause by scoring two own goals as they were comfortably beaten by the east Londoners.

A fast start for both teams soon began to be dominated by UEL as they created numerous opportunities.

The opener came in the 22nd minute when a lack of communication from Essex’s goalkeeper and his defence, resulted in the east Londoners taking the lead.

A half in play occurred shortly afterwards when a number of players picked up injuries before Essex nearly equalised.

Fortunately they didn’t and two minutes before the break, a long goal kick enabled Caney-Bryan to run through and fire into the bottom corner.

UEL led two nil at the break and unsurprisingly started the second period the brighter and looked to add to their tally.

Just past the hour mark and Essex did briefly threaten to pull one back, but they failed to make the most of a corner kick.

The final 20 minutes of the match were held in UEL’s favour and they continued their consistent play by adding a third.

Once again it was another own goal, but it came after good work by the East Londoners and ensures they keep up their good form.

UEL have won two of their opening three matches so far this season and will look to build on that next time.
