West Ham have been left fuming after Tottenham made a last-gasp bid to prize Eidur Gudjohnsen to White Hart Lane.

The Monaco forward had half a medical at Upton Park on Tuesday night, but before the Hammers could complete the loan signing and the other part of his medical yesterday (Wednesday), it had emerged that the former Chelsea man had held talks with Spurs about a possible move there instead.

The club are still awaiting a decision from the player and co-owner David Sullivan was displeased with the bid from their north London rivals, especially as it now looks likely he will join Tottenham.

"We thought we had a deal and the player had even had a medical," he moaned.

"We then heard that Tottenham were trying to speak to the player.

"I can't say I am happy about it, but I believe in karma and what goes around, comes around."

Tottenham themselves admitted they were keen on Gudjohnsen, but felt the deal to bring him to Upton Park had already been done.

"I like Eidur and I've spoken to his agent," said manager Harry Redknapp.

"He's a good footballer. I thought he was going to West Ham, but I left it with my chairman.

"He would be a good loan signing."

One man who is edging closer to a move to the Boleyn is striker Benni McCarthy, who is to join the club for around 2.5million on a contract until 2012.

One man seemingly on his way out of the club is loanee Luis Jimenez, who is set for a move back to Italy.

The Chilean has struggled to make an impact in England since arriving on a season-long loan from Inter and the club believe it is likely he will return to Serie A, with Parma keen on the player.

"Jimenez interests us," Parma's sporting director Pietro Leonardi told tuttomercatoweb.

"In fact, I am heading to Milan to talk about a possible transfer.
