West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green keen for speculation to end

West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green hopes the speculation surrounding the club is sorted out quickly in the summer.

Hammers chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan have dismissed manager Gianfranco Zola, while the pair have also made everyone bar Scott Parker available for transfer.

Carlton Cole last week admitted the situation has had an unsettling effect on the players and Green is equally keen for the issues to be sorted out when asked what he would like to see happen over the summer.

"A lot of the question marks cleared up. I'm sure the two chairmen will take their chance now to decide where they want to take the club, and who that might involve," he said.

"There's been a lot of talk and a lot of speculation, and I'm sure come the start of pre-season things will be a lot clearer. That's down to them.

"For me, my job is playing in goal and that's what I focus on. I'm a bit too old and long in the tooth to get too focused on things that are out of my control.

"I just sit there and accept what comes along, focus on the 90 minutes every week when it comes along. That's my job and that's what I'll carry on doing.

"The two people in charge have said enough and I'll leave them to do the talking. I read what you read.

" I've never spoken to them, or half of them, in my life, and certainly never about my future. But if you take what they say, then read what you want into it.

"I've always stated that I'm a happy Hammer.

"I want to be here and not fighting relegation.

"I want to come forward with the club.

"Realistically that something that's out of my hands and they can say as much as they want to say about it."

And the England international was equally in the dark when it came to the future of his boss.

"I've no idea. I don't know what's gone on," he said.

"The stuff I read, there seems to be a whole lot of strange stuff that's been said which I don't really know what's been going on. But on the whole, that's for them to decide."

It's been a tough season for the Hammers, but Green was delighted with the side's ability to stick together during the hard times.

"As you say, it's been a difficult season. The main thing is we've stuck together and come out of it the other side.

"It's fortunate there were three poor teams below us, but we clung in there and got the results when we needed to and sacrificed a lot in terms of playing style.

"The manager sacrificed a lot in terms of players. It wasn't ideal but we came out of it the other side and will come back stronger.
