West Ham Technical Director Gianluca Nani looks likely to be leaving the Hammers after the takeover of David Gold and David Sullivan.

The Italian, who was brought in to help bring players to the club, looks likely to be a victim of the new owners cost-cutting measures.

The duo, who have inherited over 100m worth of debt after completing their takeover on Tuesday morning, admitted that there may have to be staff cuts and Nani's name was a notable absentee when possible transfer targets were to be discussed.

"We have to make savings and staffing may have to be economised," Sullivan admitted.

"Franco Zola deserves our support and will get our support.

"We will sit down with him and see what he has to say.

"We would like to bring players in to strengthen the squad.

"We have an un-balanced squad full of midfielders and we are short in other positions, especially strikers.

"I like to be involved in transfer dealings.
