League announce ruling after investigation
Former London Raiders duo Frankie Sabine and Charlie Phillips have received long bans from the EIHA following an investigation into events at their National League play-off tie at Streatham.
Goalie Sabine has received an 18-month suspension, while young defenceman Phillips is hit with a six-month ban after a review of all available evidence.
The bans came into effect on June 1.
Raiders released Sabine straight after the abandoned match in early April, which Danny Marshall’s men were leading 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.
And the team was forced to forfeit the tie as they did not have enough players available to contest the return leg.
Phillips and elder brother Billy – who received a four-match ban – had announced their decision to leave the club earlier this summer, while Frankie Harvey (four matches), Michael Gray (two matches) and player-coach Marshall (one match) also picked up suspensions.
