Millwall travelled to take on old rivals Old Brentwoods on Saturday hoping to end their run of league defeats, but were unable to force a win.

The team had hoped for a strong season in Essex One after an undefeated league and cup campaign the previous season.

But after four league games without a win, the Isle of Dogs side is being forced to reassess its objectives for the season.

On Saturday the visitors started brightly with hulking centre James Reilly butchering the Old Brents defence and claiming two easy tries in the first ten minutes.

Fly-half Dom Sutherland converted one chance to make it 12-0 to Millwall, and the visitors appeared to have the advantage not only in open play but also in the set pieces.

But the home side came back and caught Millwall napping, scoring two unanswered tries and a penalty in front of the posts to give Old Brents the lead at half time, by 15 points to 12.

In the second half Millwall again enjoyed the brighter start, with scrum-half and captain Brent McMillan scoring a typically opportunistic try after taking a quick tap penalty from five metres out to give the visitors a two point lead.

However, with less than 10 minutes remaining Old Brents side gathered momentum, breached the Millwall defence and touched down under the posts for a converted try to leave the visitors adrift and still searching for their first win of the season.

Millwall will be hoping to put Essex One's basement boys Upper Clapton to the sword in a home fixture this Saturday.
