Millwall RFC are poised to enter the record books after another crushing victory moved the club to the brink of an historic triumph

Millwall RFC are poised to enter the record books after another crushing victory moved the club to the brink of an historic triumph.

The Isle of Dogs side, who have already clinched the Essex Division Two title, will complete an entire league season unbeaten if they avoid defeat on Saturday.

Millwall travel to Runwell Wyverns knowing that a 44-point margin of victory would also see the club finish the season with a points difference of plus 700.

The latest annihilation was inflicted on sorry May and Baker, who were on the end of a 75-3 hiding on Saturday.

Millwall centre Tan Parsons said: "We're pleased to win but we made a lot of silly mistakes that would have cost us dear against better opposition.

"That may sound dour but we have to be realistic and look to our cup fixtures as well as building for next year.

"We have one more league game but after that it will be pure hard graft in preparation for the Essex President's Shield semi-final."

Millwall's high-speed assaults went unanswered as prolific winger Naz Mohammed scored yet another hat-trick for the Isle of Dogs outfit.

It took some mazy running by the centres to break the deadlock as full-back Gaz Williams dived over in the right corner, hotly pursued by three would-be tacklers.

Dan Lawrence was next to touch down, capitalising on a chip through from Williams to cross over in the left corner.

The contest remained fairly close until half-time, but May and Baker's lack of fitness began to tell after the break and their defence was routinely ripped apart by rampant Millwall.

Brent McMillan (pictured), Dom Sutherland, Louis Newton, Drew Benjamin and Ray Walker all touched down for Millwall after the restart as the club recorded a triumph and set up the chance of a memorable climax to the season on Saturday.

Millwall's youth set-up also enjoyed a landmark day last weekend as the club's Cubs team took to the field for the first time.

The club's Under-10s team enjoyed a debut showing against Thurrock and impressed with their attitude and approach to the game.

Will Foley, a product of the Josh Lewsey Rugby Academy, scored the Cubs' only try but manager Sarah Edmead was proud of each of her players.

She said: "They all did so well, taking the tackles in their stride. Hopefully we'll kick on from here."

With Millwall's Under-13s and Under-17s sides also in action, the club were represented by four teams last weekend and youth chairman Matthew Shorrock predicts that numbers will continue to rise.

He said: "I'm predicting we'll really take off from here and the time is now for anyone wishing to get involved in rugby in Tower Hamlets.
