Members make podium in judo and karate events
Veras Academy youngsters had more to celebrate in judo and karate events recently.
Brothers Luan and Liam Veras, both Raines Foundation pupils from Tower Hamlets, won gold and bronze at the London Open Judo Championships at UEL SportsDock.
And they helped clubmates pick up 12 medals at the British Four Nations Karate Championships, as Veras finished 13th overall out of 55 teams.
The siblings combined for pairs kata gold, while Luca Veras also won individual kumite gold and pairs kata bronze with Islington’s Jack Gentili.

And Liam Veras won individual combat and kata bronze, as Dawn Kavanagh took veteran kata bronze and Chloe Casimir (Newham) and Dylan (Camden) added kumite bronze.
