Veras Academy youngsters show off their latest medals


Veras Academy youngsters were among the medals once again at the French Cup last weekend.

Competing for the USF club, Luan Veras finished the season in style with a gold medal in the pre-cadets (12/13 years) under-50kg competition.

Tayla O’Brien added bronze in the under-40kg category, while Demie Holland won bronze in the over-50kg group.

All three train at the academy’s Islington base under coach Raphael Veras, who said: “Luan received a call from the French Karate Federation, informing him he has been selected to be in the French squad.

“He will have to pass this great opportunity as he is not a French national, but it is such a great pleasure to be recognised by a foreign country, which is within the top five ranking countres in the world of karate.”
