Unbeaten professional boxer Billy Morgan has set his sights on win number nine against Ashley Mayall on Saturday.

Unbeaten Canning Town boxer Billy Morgan hopes Wembley Arena will bring the best out of him as he gets sets for his bout with Ashley Mayall tomorrow.

The 23-year-old during his professional career, which has seen him win all eight of his opening fights, has only boxed at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

And while the place holds special memories for the Mark Tibbs-trained hope, Morgan knows he would love to be fighting on the big arenas on a regular basis.

“York Hall will always be a special place for me,” said Morgan. “I have had some great nights there in the past and I will always love that place.

“But I am looking forward to my first time in an arena and it should be a great night’s action. Wembley Arena is a great place and hopefully I will be fighting in great arenas for a long time to come.”

The lightweight boxer will take on young Ashley Mayall, 20, who has only fought twice on the professional stage, on the undercard of Dereck Chisora v Malik Scott on Saturday.

Morgan did have an original date of June 15 for this bout, but has had to play the waiting game for his next chance.

And up until yesterday the unbeaten lightweight didn’t even know who he would be facing.

He will hope to get the better of his Oldham counterpart, and the training has been going well.

That has included a sparring session with Carl Frampton, who was due to defend his IBF intercontinental title against Nicarguan Everth Briceno at Wembley on Saturday, But Frampton has had to pull out of the fight on Tuesday due to an ear injury.

However, Morgan believes the training has gone as good as it could have in preparation for this fight.

“It’s all gone to plan so far,” he added. “Everything has been winding down now in preparation for the fight so I can make the weight.

“But things couldn’t have gone any better. The session with Carl was great. I have a slight advantage over him but it all went well and I was even asked to come back again.

“It was only my own schedule which didn’t allow me to do that and hopefully we can work together in the future.

“I haven’t known who I will face and that has been a problem in trying to get people to come along without knowing who I’ll face.

“But my sole focus has been on my training and that has gone to plan.”
