Five-star men go out with a win
East London’s men ended the East Division Two season in style with a 5-1 win over in-form Broxbourne.
The visitors had won five matches in a row, but came up against a determined East London outfit, who cruised to victory thanks to a hat-trick from Sam Boddington.
Henry Emery and Kutts Uthappa were also on the mark as the home side ended a promotion-winning campaign on a high.
The women completed their season with a trip to bottom club Gore Court in East Division Two South East.
Karen Allan picked up a green card in the first half of a gritty contest, but East took the lead when player of the match Bee Armstrong linked up well with Grace Lant, who scored at the far post.
The vice-captain added a second after stealing possession from the home side and, although Gore Court hit back, it was only a consolation.
The men’s second string beat Witham with a single Guy Perkins goal to seal promotion ahead of their third team, who beat Upminster 3-1 with goals from David Siddall, Kalum Fergus and Mike Hazlewood.
The fifths were confirmed as champions, despite not having a game, while the sixth team romped to a 9-0 win over Saffron Walden eighths.
Graham Williams led the way with a treble, as Alan Fitzpatrick, David Karp and Ladi Oloyede all added braces.
The fourths beat their Saffron Walden rivals 6-4, but the women’s thirds lost 3-2 to Wapping fifths as Hannah Graham netted both of their goals.
