Local outfit joins “I Am Team GB” campaign

East London Hockey Club are hosting a special drop-in event as part of the “I Am Team GB” campaign on Saturday.

Following the historic gold-medal success of the women’s team in Rio, clubs are looking to introduce new people to the sport and advise anyone interested to just turn up at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre (E20 3AD) with comfortable clothes.

Shin pads and mouth guards are also recommended, but the club will provide sticks and those attending can get involved in mixed, social mini-matches.

A spokesman said: “Lots of fun, fitness and great friends to be made and if you’re free come and join us after for pizza and drinks in Aldgate!”

The session runs from 3pm to 4.30pm and anyone wanting more information can visit the club website elhockey.co.uk.
