Five teams from Wapping Kidds HC took part in a Your World Cup festival at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre.
The event marked a one-month countdown to the Women’s World Cup, with 52 schools and eight clubs involved.
The tournament involved over 1000 children, including players aged eight to 14 from Wapping. Sandra Akinbolu said: “We’re so proud of the many Wapping Kidds who were able to play in such a well-organised and fun event.
“It was fabulous to see so many local children, and their parents, making the most of world-class facilities on our doorstep, it goes to show what a welcoming and popular sport hockey is. Bring on the World Cup!”
Wapping Remains beat East London 6-0 in the National Over-30s Cup, with goals from Lucy Todd (2), Jo Ward (2), Lucy Walstone and Barbara Lo Giudice, and Rachel Haseloff player of the match.
Lucy Walstone hit a hat-trick in a 7-0 win over Burnt Ash, as Todd (2), Lo Giudice and Charlotte Holt also struck.
England international Becky Hart helped Wapping book a semi-final trip to Worcester.
The over-30 men slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Hampstead & Westminster and go into the semi-finals of the plate.
