The men’s sixth team had already clinched the East Three South East crown, but the women’s sixth team recorded back-to-back wins at the weekend to be crowned Essex Division Two champions.

Bee Hughes netted the only goal in their victory against Waltham Forest thirds, and was on target again in a 3-1 success against Basildon fourths, joining Morgan Gillespie and Ema Mcready on the scoresheet.

The men’s 10th and 11th teams were the others to go up this term, but the women’s thirds missed out as only one team was promoted from the Essex Premier Division.

Fareed Anees netted twice as the men’s sevenths beat Southend seconds 6-1, with Adam Burch, Dan Carter and Steve Simes also on target.

But the biggest winners on the last day of the campaign were the women’s eighths, who ran out 10-0 winners over Romford seconds.

Rachael Collins helped herself to six goals, with Sam Dale nabbing a brace as Kate Geal and player of the match Rachel Gaston completed the haul.

The women’s fifths lost 2-0 to Thurrock seconds, while the men’s eighths were edged out 2-1 by Old Southendian seconds, as Alec Rossiter scored.

The club’s end of season awards night saw Rachel Haseloff named as the women’s player of the year and Richard Ripper the men’s.

Chris Monger was the mixed team player of the year, as Rachel Byrne (volunteer) and Colin Apps (umpire) also won prizes.

Top goalscorer awards went to Will Cairns (20) and Gigi Barbuto (25), while the women’s thirds was named team of the year and Adam Haines took the clubperson of the year prize.
