Unbeaten prospect Pat McAleese and debutant Tony Conquest headline promoter Miranda Carter's season-opening show at York Hall

York Hall promoter Miranda Carter launches a new boxing season at the Bethnal Green venue on Sunday with a strong line-up of prospects from East London's TKO Gym.

Carter, a mother of three, does not fit the usual blueprint of a fight promoter but she relishes a challenge and her Left Jab promotions group has staged several successful shows at the traditional home of British boxing.

She relies on local talent to attract fans to her fights and Sunday's show will be no exception, with Ultrachem TKO boss Johnny Eames and fellow trainer Jason Rowland preparing a parade of hopefuls for action on a promising bill that has been assembled by matchmaker Roy Hilder.

Eames will hope that his popular light middleweight Pat McAleese continues to please his large following by extending his seven-fight unbeaten run when he faces Welsh opponent Geraint Honey.

"Pat has developed into a real York Hall favourite and with a few more good wins we'll be looking to get him into the title picture," Eames says.

Tony Conquest, who won a London ABA cruiserweight title with Dagenham BC, will launch his paid career at York Hall - and former WBO world light-welterweight champion Rowland believes professional honours could be on the cards if Conquest fulfils his potential.

Former Repton amateur star Rowland has been training Conquest at the TKO gym and is impressed with the talented prospect.

"Tony has been working well in the gym and I think he will make his mark on the professional scene," says Rowland, who took top amateur and pro honours in his own career.

Conquest, who battled to become the British No3 in the amateur ranks, will be tested by 40-fight Aberystwyth campaigner Jamie Ambler on the bill.

He will be joined by stable-mates Liam Shinkwin and John Wayne Hibbert, who also trained by Rowland and managed by Richard Clarke.

Local light heavyweight Bill Slate is also booked for his pro debut against Welsh opponent Adam Wilcox.

Super-middleweight Matt Jack, light-middleweight Ryan Toms, cruiserweight Leon Williams, lightweight Tony Owen and women's super-flyweight Juliette Winter are also booked for action on the show, which starts at 3pm.
