London Raiders forward JJ Pitchley felt the team produced their best weekend of the season to dump Oxford out of the National League play-offs.

Pitchley scored a natural hat-trick as Raiders came from two goals down to win 4-2 at Lee Valley on Saturday, then netted twice more as his side romped to a 7-1 success in the return at Oxpens Road.

He said: “It was the best weekend all year by far. The boys came to play!

“We set a game plan on Saturday and said no matter what we had to go into Sunday with a lead.

“When we got to Oxford we continued from where we left off Saturday. Every single guy played phenomenal all weekend.”

Marek Nahlik helped himself to a hat-trick in the away win, with Andy Munroe and Stewart Tait also finding the net as the Stars were shot down.

And the 11-3 aggregate success has set Raiders up for a semi-final showdown with league champions and cup winners Chelmsford this weekend, which Pitchley is relishing.

He added: “Now we go on to to another round against the Chieftains.

“It’s going to be another battle for 120 minutes, but these are you games you love to play in, myself especially.

“As long as I can remember, even as a kid, Romford-Chelmsford games are physical games and a lot of fun to play in.

“We will regroup on Thursday for a skate, then get ready for battle on Saturday at Lee Valley!”
